About Lot 20 Coffee
Lot 20 Coffee was founded in 2019 by Sidney Kibet, who returned to his home region of Kericho after working in coffee export in Rwanda. What began as a mission to export just 20 lots from local farmers has grown into a dynamic operation working across five counties in western Kenya.
At the heart of Lot 20 is a commitment to keeping value within local communities. By operating smaller-scale processing facilities in Kericho rather than centralising in Nairobi, the company supports local employment and economic growth, with a strong focus on empowering women and smallholder farmers.
In 2023, Lot 20 established the Metibellion washing station, dedicated to producing high-quality and experimental coffees. The company is known for its innovative fermentation techniques, applying methods inspired by cider production to unlock new flavour complexity while maintaining clarity and balance.
Lot 20 also prioritises transparency and fairness, paying farmers upfront premium prices for their cherries and providing financial training, agronomic support, and access to quality seedlings. This approach helps build long-term sustainability and encourages the next generation of coffee producers.

Processing Method
This lot is processed using a fully washed method, enhancing clarity, brightness, and balance in the cup.
Selective Harvesting: Only ripe cherries are hand-picked at peak maturity.
Floating & Sorting: Cherries are sorted to remove defects and underripe fruit.
Pulping: Mechanically pulped shortly after harvest.
Fermentation: Carefully controlled fermentation to develop clean acidity and structure.
Washing: Thorough washing to remove all remaining mucilage.
Drying: Sun-dried on raised beds with regular turning for even drying.
Storage: Stored in protective liners to preserve freshness and quality.
This process results in a clean, vibrant cup with crisp citrus, tea-like structure, and refined sweetness.
Brewing Recommendations
This coffee performs beautifully across multiple brewing methods:
Espresso: Bright and structured with citrus clarity and a tea-like finish.
