About Ngila Estate
Ngila Estate is a historic coffee farm located on the edge of the cloud forest surrounding the Ngorongoro Crater in Northern Tanzania. Coffee has been cultivated here since the 1920s, and the estate was revitalised in 1992 by the Meyer family, who established its modern identity.
Today, Ngila is led by Vera Stücker and operates as a high-quality specialty coffee estate that combines environmental stewardship, biodiversity protection, and social responsibility.
The farm sits within a unique ecosystem bordered by a wildlife corridor that allows native fauna such as antelope, leopards, and wild boars to move freely. Large wildlife is protected through fencing, while the estate actively supports reforestation, soil regeneration, and water conservation along the Ngila River.
Ngila Estate also plays a major role in the local community, providing long-term employment, healthcare support, education funding, and training programs. Many workers have been employed on the estate for decades, and seasonal harvest work supports over 250 additional labourers annually.
This Geisha lot reflects Ngila’s commitment to precision agriculture and sustainability, producing a clean and expressive cup from one of Tanzania’s most unique highland environments.

Processing Method
This lot is processed using a fully washed method designed to highlight clarity, structure, and varietal expression.
- Selective Harvesting: Only ripe cherries are hand-picked at peak maturity.
- Floating & Sorting: Cherries are floated and sorted to remove defects and low-density fruit.
- Pulping: Coffee is mechanically pulped using water-efficient equipment.
- Fermentation: Controlled fermentation in tanks to break down mucilage and develop clean acidity.
- Washing: Thorough washing to remove all remaining sugars and impurities.
- Drying: Sun-dried on African raised beds with careful turning to ensure even drying and flavour preservation.
- Storage: Dried parchment is stored in GrainPro/Ecotact liners to maintain quality and stability.
This process produces a clean, transparent cup with expressive florals, vibrant citrus, and a silky, refined finish.
